@ Gemini: just as there are fictional characters of every size and sense of proportion, there are cosplays for every bodytype. That said, next to no one in the cosplay community cares about body size, it's all about having fun with it.
@ Verene: Paine's wig is a pain (ba-dum tish). D'8 I havent tried it, and I don't think I'd ever dare to, it looks quite complicated. I admire you for taking her on! :3
@ Charlie: I was in the cathan workshop for fun, not the contest bit. I might've thought about picking it back up for this halloween though, I don't remember. ^^' And yea... GW2G has a different community I suppose. I dont mind though, I just ignore it.
@ Thistle: yeah I was happy he said yes, I'd never expect it as he really hates cosplay. I love Shiro too, he's terribly misunderstood. Really, you could wonder if the real evil genius is Vizu :P Shiro is the best villain in the series, imo.

I just don't wanna poke someone's eyes out with my epic hips of doom >_< I need to fit up a bit more either way before I try cosplay... But I could still buy a wig since I'm utterly unable to grow my own hair.

awwwsummm :3 I see another epic cosplay on the horizon - I'm always so impressed by the amount of detail you put into your costumes (and still jealous at how awesome that Jora costume looked on you :P ) good luck! <3

Very nice so far, can't wait to see more photos. And it's always great to see more cosplay from you since you're so awesome at making the costumes. Could you tell a little more about the materials you use? I see some cardboard and perhaps aluminium foil, but not quite sure about it...
I've been thinking of doing another GW cosplay as well, although I'll probably wait for GW2 to come out first.
@GeminiJuSa: Cosplayers are pretty relaxed about different body types. My own body is quite feminine too... curvy, and very padded in many places. Big hips too. :P
I've never had bad comments from people when I cosplay, and many have even been encouraging about it. Even dared to do a rather revealing ritualist costume once, although the costume itself was rushed and horrible and I should re-do it at some point.

Oh man. When I realized this it was too late, I'm really pissed at myself. I worked without a reference, it was stupid, and now I've made an obvious, irrevocable (they're permanently glued on) mistake. :| I think I'm gonna have to remake it, but so you guys know what I'm talking about:
oh, and yeah theres a fabric piece sticking out and the lower part of the top isnt hemmed yet so ignore that. :/
I suppose the knives are disproportional to the reference anyway, I might as well. *sigh*
I havent had time to make any new dagger yet, but hopefully tomorrow or thoughout the weekend I'll be able to sit down and make some more. Then I promise to post pictures of the progress.
The top is made from lycra and is actually dark blue, but I suppose its hard to see in the poor lighting.

Please report these. Should be no reason for people to make those kind of unwanted comments.

I find those comments annoying but I realise that at least some of the guys intend to be flattering, they do not realise those comments are boorish and vulgar.

perfect.

I hope you don't mean cutting Shiro's wig - his hair is very long if you look behind him. You jut need to cut a few strands so some of hit remains in front while tying the back.

I personally wouldn't mind giving it a go, but I don't really have the time or patience to make the costumes (or nerve or body to wear them in public).

I think he's just referring to how people are calling Tzu hot. AJ's thread (and comics) is more "offensive" than anything directed at Tzu. My comments are just jokes more than anything - I suppose there's a reason why people compare me to House or call me an egotistical bastard. If my comments ever get told they're "too much" or if I notice mine being edited/deleted I'll step down easily

Blame AJ. He corrupted them with his comics. His innocent looking yet disturbing comics.

I'm going to agree with this - I'll straight-up admit it, I'm not a thin woman by any means, but that's never stopped me from cosplaying, and I've managed to pull off some fairly revealing costumes, too. So don't worry about it, Gemini, and find something you like. Very, very few cosplayers are judgmental about that sort of thing. I've been cosplaying for 8 years and can count on one hand the number of negative comments about someone's body I've seen.

Aww, Tzu, that looks so good though D: That's such a shame you have to redo it! I hadn't thought of it before, but I guess it makes sense that the handles would be sticking out front for the assassin to reach over with the opposite hand to grab and throw it quickly. There aren't any tricks to remove the glue or tear it and fix/hide any potential damage?

Last Halloween workshop was the first time I've really heard about cosplaying, but I so want to do it now! I was thinking of making a Xandra costume next Halloween (only kinda-Asiany hero plus we share the same name kinda - not on purpose on my part!), but then was thinking it would be such a shame to only wear it 1 day a year . Where do you actually go cosplay? Are there cosplay conventions? My hubby mentioned that one of his coworkers loves cosplay and has a room full of costumes so I may need to have her as my cosplay mentor :O

Cosplaying is fun. I'd probably still be doing it if I didn't move to the US. >_< Sorry about the handle thing Tzu. Yeah there must be a way for you to take it off without having to redo the entire thing.
I LOOOOOOVE those wigs btw O_O

I attend anime conventions My main one is Anime Central (I'm staff there, actually), I'm thinking about trying to hit C2E2 and Wizard World Chicago this year, and my fiance and I are making plans to go to San Diego Comic-Con in July <3
There are tons of various anime/comic/video game/sci-fi conventions around the world, and there's always people cosplaying at them. I've even won a couple awards myself, though Tzu obviously beats me out there I cosplay less now simply because I haven't got the time to work on costumes, but my fiance and I are making plans for an epicly awesome cosplay for ACen next year - he wants to be Ezio from Assassin's Creed 2/Brotherhood, and I'm going to be Caterina Sforza from her portrayal in those games (namely her AC2 version, I like that dress better). It will be amazing, and I can't wait to start on those costumes.

That's because we're still the coolest art board out of the two. What what.
If it weren't for you posting that WIP pic, I don't think any of us would have known that the daggers were on backwards. I would say just leave it, but I know how artists can get when they realize they've made a mistake, regardless of how minor it may be.
Still, everything looks really good so far.

So excited to see how this costume turns out. I remember the first time I heard you were working on it and I was so excited. =D Lol, that sucks about the daggers. Honest mistake, although it does make more sense to have it outwards as so you don't stab yourself. =P But its looking great so far!
I've always wanted to cosplay but I don't have the skill for it. I'm better at destroying things and making them look dirty, so for Halloween my boyfriend and I cosplayed as Splicers from Bioshock. We (I =P) pretty much got everything we needed from Goodwill.

Having the daggers on the correct position is exactly quite important, an assassin wants to have quick and easy acces to them.

Made very little progress today, just hemmed the top and started working on the deco, and assembled both arm guards. I'm gonna go have some fun with Shiro's torso armour now. Even though I don't have the brocade yet I could at least draft a pattern (for once).
@ Konig: I intend on trimming both, but I'm not taking much length off Shiro's wig. I'm gonna make it according to the concept art, and for that it needs some trimming in front and shaping in the back.
@ Verene: that sounds awesome. AC:B has a lot of really pretty, intricate costumes. :3
@ Charlie: yep, that we are. I regret starting to blog process at GW2G, I should've just stuck to Nolani. Maybe I'll update this place more frequently and forgot about my thread in the other forum. Mostly because I feel stupid repeating myself.
@ Tuna: thanks for those encouraging words :3 Splicers are awesome. Silent Hill nurses are sooo last year
EDIT: oh I forgot to ask, I made the deco lines a darker shade rather than a lighter because I thought the lighter shade looked weird... is it very obvious and do you guys think I should just stick to the reference on this one? :/
Ref:
EDIT AGAIN: blargh it really is obvious. Well <___> do you think it looks worse? D8

I like darker better, I think it looks good on what you have made so far.
But in the picture the lighter one is somehow emphasised by the hair colour. Perhaps look at it with the wig on before you decide?

It is really obvious, but I think the darker shade looks better than the lighter shade - it stands out more but fits in better at the same time.
